Sara Lynch

Foley Graduate Fellow

Sara grew up in the city of Chicago, IL and her passion for nature developed while exploring her neighborhood. She continued to be inspired by her elementary school teachers who valued wonder and curiosity. She graduated from Knox College with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in Anthropology. Her love for teaching was expanded as she began working in residential summer camps at the age of 18 and was introduced to backpacking. Sara sought out opportunities to work in environmental/outdoor education after seeing the profound impacts of nature-based experiences on herself and youth. She has taught in both informal environmental science based settings and in formal classroom settings. She is very excited to gain a Masters in Science Education to continue to hone in on her teaching skills/style and to become a leader in the field. She is thrilled to be a part of the Walking Mountains team and mission. In her free time, Sara enjoys concerts, reading, hiking, backpacking, trying new things, snowboarding, and hanging out with friends.
