Melissa Kirr
Melissa is the Senior Programs Director of Sustainability and oversees the sustainability education, waste reduction, sustainable business, sustainable destination and tourism, climate action, and energy efficiency programs here at Walking Mountains. She joined Walking Mountains in 2013 during the folding in of Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability and has since held various programmatic roles. Melissa loves to share her passion for all things sustainable with everyone and loves to help create positive change. She has lived in Colorado’s Central Rocky Mountains for over 20 years and holds degrees in Forest Resource Management from Penn State University, Mont Alto campus and the University of Montana in Missoula. Melissa began her career as a botanist specializing in Forest Health Monitoring and Ozone projects for the US Forest Service. She then took position in the non-profit sector at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and has remained in this sector ever since. Melissa enjoys traveling, music, backpacking, and snowboarding with her husband, 2 daughters and 2 dogs.
