Walking Mountains’ 7th-9th grade overnight hut trips are about personal development, leadership, problem solving, and of course making meaningful friendships while enjoying the outdoors! All Summer Science Camps are age-appropriate and taught by qualified natural science educators that make learning safe and fun.

All overnight camps are based out of one of the historic 10th Mountain Division hut system.


Avon: July 21 – July 23 (Peter Estin Hut) $375

Explore the trails on this hut trip for middle schoolers! We will learn how ecology and smart trail-building strengthen one another. Then, we will apply engineering principles to a restoration project on the Walking Mountains Avon campus!

Avon: August 4 – August 6 (Fowler-Hilliard Hut)    $375

What does it take to be a leader? Embark on a life-changing adventure to a backcountry hut. Meet other like-minded youth while developing your leadership skills, understanding what it means to be a part of a team, and enjoy spending time in nature.
