Conservation Internship Program

3-month and 5-month internship positions with the White River National Forest and Walking Mountains Science Center

Enjoy your summer outdoors with U.S. Forest Service, working with science and conservation to make a difference on public lands.

Who: Internship is open to 18–25 year olds interested in pursuing a career in field biology, conservation, and/or education and interpretation.

Earn: $325/week, housing provided.

Position Details:

  • Work 40 hours per week alongside U.S. Forest Service professionals conducting field biological research and engaging with the public.
  • Participate in in-depth training focused on comfort and safety in the outdoors in all types of weather and conditions, outdoor recreation, Leave No Trace, professionalism, public lands management, and more!
  • Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and career exploration.
