Walking Mountains energy programs strive to provide inclusive access to energy efficiency to all our community members. By doing so, we offer increased support to income-qualified households. There are three programs that we support in order to accomplish this goal.

Walking Mountains Income-Qualified Program
At Walking Mountains Science Center we strive to be inclusive to all of our community members. We offer increased energy efficiency support to income-qualified homes. This includes the following services to reduce energy bills and improve safety of the home:
-Free Home Energy Assessments
-Increased Rebate Incentives

Colorado’s Affordable Residential Energy (CARE) Program
In partnership with Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) and Northwest Colorado Council of Governments (NWCCOG), the CARE program can offer other free services for income-qualified households that make less than 80% annual median income for Eagle County. Services include:
- FREE Home Energy Assessment
- FREE Energy Upgrades:
- Furnace/Boiler Tune-Up & Safety Check
- Insulation & Air Sealing Measures
- High-Efficiency Fridge and/or Water Heater
- LEDs
- Programmable Thermostats
- Water Saving Measures (Low-Flow Faucet Aerators/Showerheads)

Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) reduces energy costs for low-income households by increasing the energy efficiency of the homes while ensuring the resident’s health and safety.
