Ski With a Ranger
Don’t just wonder what goes on in the natural world as you enjoy the views from the slopes of Beaver Creek Ski Resort, find out! Meet a volunteer Forest Service Ranger at the Environmental Learning Center at the top of Chair 8 who will take you on an educational nature tour of Beaver Creek by ski or snowboard. Levels 3 and up, all ages, FREE. Call 970.827.9725 for more information. No reservation required, just show up!

Ski With Smokey
Next time you’re on the slopes at Vail Mountain, look out for bears! The only bear you’ll see during the winter is our local fire expert Smokey Bear, who puts on skis every Wednesday to say hello and spread his wildfire prevention message. Free hugs! Call 970.827.9725 for more information.

Winter Nature Walks
Join a Walking Mountains Naturalist for a gentle, educational hike through aspen forests and streamside communities. Learn about the ecology and animal adaptations of this mountain environment. Walks will be conducted on snowshoes as necessary depending on snow levels. Please wear proper footwear and clothing for the outdoors in winter. Snowshoes provided when necessary. All ages, FREE.

Guided Snowshoe Hikes
Join an instructor trained as a Certified Interpretive Guide on these leisurely half-day outings in the White River National Forest. Snowshoes are provided, but guests must bring their own sense of wonder and enthusiasm for spending time in the winter environment! We will hike and discuss the ecology of natural systems while spending time amongst snowcapped peaks and silent winter forests.
